Future of Energy. Green Energy of Tomorrow in Russia and the World

A global rethinking of the role of the anthropogenic factor in climate change has become a catalyst for a green energy boom. Hundreds of gigawatts of solar and wind power are being built around the world every year. For five years in a row, renewable energy has surpassed coal, gas and nuclear in terms of commissioning, and global investments in RES annually exceed $ 300 billion. However, in some countries, green generation already provides up to 90% of all electricity generation.

Technologically, renewable energy sources have long ceased to be an expensive and ineffective toy and have come close to grid parity – a situation when electricity generated using renewable sources is comparable in cost to traditional gas and coal-fired power plants.

And it is obvious that this is just the beginning. Renewable energy is a highly competitive market. Therefore, the technological race to find new efficient solutions in solar and wind energy continues. And in Russia, where green energy has come not so long ago, it still continues to develop new niches. In the wake of large-scale energy, large industrial consumers are increasingly announcing plans to reduce their carbon footprint by building renewable energy facilities. Demand for small-capacity solutions for individual households is also growing.

The technological trend also forms new markets, which are important for a potential investor to discern today.

Questions:

· What are the technological trends in the development of green energy in the horizon of 10 years?
· Does Russia have a chance to become one of the trendsetters in technology in green generation by the end of the next decade?
· Will the growth in demand for green microgeneration become an additional stimulus for the development of renewable energy sources in Russia?
